Guided Bike Tours |
| Our guided tours are the perfect way to see the best parts of the Gettysburg Battlefield. We team you up with Licensed Battlefield Guides who specialize in bike tours of the park. With them you will see Little Round Top, Devil's Den, The Peach Orchard, The Angle and the High Water Mark. |
We arrange everything for you and, of course, provide the bikes. The tours generally last approximately 3 hours, and cover 9 miles of the park. (Please arrive 30 minutes prior to your scheduled departure time, to get everybody saddled up and ready to go.) Because some tours can run for 3 1/2 hours, please allot 4 hours in your schedule to the tour.
After the tour you may rent the bikes at reduced rates and explore the park on your own. (This is a great way to go back and see your favorite sites again.)
|
|
| We also provide discounted tours if you bring your own bicycle. |

Unless other arrangements are made, a non-refundable 30% deposit must be paid within 5 days of making the reservation.
All tours normally have a 2-person minimum. However, if you would like a solo tour, we will do our best to accommodate. Please call for information
(and note that the price must be increased to $102.00 to cover the mandatory guide fee set by the National Park Service).
Children 7 or older who are competent on a bike may ride their own bike (although families with children under 10 must take a private tour as noted above). Toddlers and small children may accompany a parent or guardian on a "tag-along" (child trailers that attach to an adult bike). Also, large groups of young children may require additional adult supervision, so please let us know if your group includes many young riders.
Weather Policy. Guided tours run rain or shine. If you wish to cancel the tour due to rain, please do so at least one hour BEFORE the tour is scheduled to begin, but please remember that your deposit is non-refundable. From five seasons of experience here in Gettysburg, we have learned that the weather reports often prove inaccurate and, therefore, we ask that you be flexible. In the event of a thunderstorm before a tour begins, our policy is to wait until it passes. Should a thunderstorm occur while on the tour, the guide will seek the nearest shelter and wait for the storm to pass. (Because of the route of the tour, it is often easier to pause and head to the nearest shelter rather than head back.) Please consider that your reserving a tour causes people to make themselves available to you. Thus, do not assume that rain or thunderstorms (or a threat of either) before a tour automatically cancels the tour.

Special group rates may be available
for groups of
10 or more
(depending on the size and needs of your group).
Please call for details! |
|
| For groups, a support vehicle is available at the customer's request for a service fee of $30. Please note that we cannot transport people in this vehicle. Its purpose is to assist the tour guide, repair or transport replacement bikes, coolers, etc. For large groups that wish to bring their own bus or van for support on a tour, a GettysBike coordinator is required, and a service fee of $25.00 will be charged. |

July 1, 2 and 3 are the anniversary days
of the battle of Gettysburg. |
Our tour schedules those days are as follows:
July 1
9 A.M. - FIRST DAY'S BATTLEFIELD TOUR: Ride the battlefields west and north of town and learn how the battle started on the morning of July 1, 1863. This tour will cover only the first day's battlefield but will go into greater detail than a standard tour. You will see McPherson's Ridge and the site of Union General John Reynolds' death; the Railroad cut; Iverson's Pits and much more.
-or-
1 P.M.- STANDARD TOUR: We will give our standard, 3-hour tour, which gives a general overview of the battle. You will cover the battlefields of all three days of fighting. You will stop at the Lutheran Seminary, the Peach Orchard, The Wheatfield, The Devil's Den, Little Round Top and the Angle, as well as many stops in between at some of the Gettysburg National Military Park's 1400 monuments.
July 2
1 P.M. - STANDARD TOUR: We will give our standard, 3-hour tour, which gives a general overview of the battle.
-or-
5 P.M. - SECOND DAY TOUR: One of the most famous and legendary fights at Gettysburg occurred on Little Round Top, in the late afternoon of July 2, 1863, on the Southern end of the battlefield. July 2 would yield the most casualties out of all three days. On this tour, you will learn about and visit the Peach Orchard, the Wheatfield, the Devil's Den and Little Round Top. It will also include a stop at the Angle where you will learn about the culminating action of the battle, Pickett's Charge, which took place on
July 3, 1863.
July 3
To be determined.
* All tours are three hours long. We request that you arrive for the tour between 15 and 30 minutes before your tour time. Please allow a total of 4 hours in you schedule for your tour. During these days, we cannot arrange private tours. Therefore, we ask that all children must be able to ride a bike for an extended period of time and be able to keep up as best they can. Also, there is a good chance that you will be together with other customers on your tour.
